How To Pray The Chaplet of St Michael The Archangel

Chaplet History
Saint Michael, appearing one day to Antonia d'Astonac, a most devout Servant of God, told her that he wished to be honored by nine salutations corresponding to the nine Choirs of Angels, which should consist of one Our Father and three Hail Marys in honor of each of the Angelic Choirs.

Promises of St Michael
Whoever would practice this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching the Holy Table, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs.  In addition, for the daily recital of these nine salutations, he promised his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during life, and after death deliverance from Purgatory for themselves and all their relations.

Method of Reciting the Chaplet
This chaplet is begun by saying the following invocation on the medal:

O God, come to my assistance!
O Lord, make haste to help me!
Glory bet to the Father, etc.

Say one Our Father and three Hail Marys after each of the following nine salutations in honor of the nine Choirs of Angels:

1st Salutation
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Seraphim, may the Lord make us worthy to burn with the fire of perfect charity.  Amen

2nd Salutation
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Cherubim, may the Lord vouchsafe to grand us grace to leave ways of wickedness to run in the paths of Christian perfection.  Amen

3rd Salutation
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Thrones, may the Lord infuse into our hearts a true and sincere spirit of humility.  Amen

4th Salutation
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Dominions, may the Lord give us grace to govern our senses and subdue our unruly passions.  Amen

5th Salutation
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Powers, may the Lord vouchsafe to protect our souls against the snares and temptations of the devil.  Amen

6th Salutation
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Virtues, may the Lord preserve us from evil and suffer us not to fall into temptation.  Amen

7th Salutation
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Principalities, may God fill our souls with a true spirit of obedience.  Amen

8th Salutation
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Archangels, may the Lord give us perseverance in faith and in all good works, in order that we gain the glory of Paradise.  Amen

9th Salutation
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Angels, may the Lord grant us to be protected by them in this mortal life and conducted hereafter to eternal glory.  Amen

On the four smaller beads below the center medal say one Our Father in honor of each of the following leading Angels:  St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael, and our Guardian Angel.

Concluding Prayers
O Glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, thou who dost shine with excellence and superhuman virtue, vouchsafe to deliver us from all evil, who by thy gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day.

V.  Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ!
R.  That we may be made worthy of His promises!

Almighty and Everlasting God, who by a prodigy of goodness and merciful desire for the salvation of all men hast appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael Prince of Thy Church, make us worthy, we beseech Thee, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into the august presence of Thy Divine Majesty.  This we beg through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

How To Pray The Virgin Of Guadalupe Rosary Chaplet

On 9 December 1531 Our Lady appeared to peasant Juan Diego on the Hill of Tepeyac near Mexico City.  Click here to read more about this Marian apparition.

Below are prayer instructions for the Our Lady of Guadalupe rosary chaplet.  The chaplet is available for purchase at UnbreakableRosaries.com.

On The Crucifix - Mystical Rose

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mystical Rose, make intercession for our Holy Church, protect the sovereign Pontiff, help all those who invoke you in their necessities, and sine you are the ever Virgin Mary and Mother of the true God, obtain for us from your most Holy Son the grace of keeping our faith, of sweet hope in the midst of the bitterness of live, of burning charity, and the precious gift of final perseverance.  Amen.

First Large Bead - Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name: Thy kingdom come: Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Four Small Beads - Four Hail Marys in honor of Her four apparitions to the Blessed Juan Diego.  One Glory Be.

Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

First Apparition:  Our Lady of Guadalupe appears to the Blessed Juan Diego.  Our Lady requests a temple in her honor.

Our Father ...

Meditation:  Our Lady of Guadalupe, my Queen and my Mother, I thank you for your first apparition to the Blessed Juan Diego when you revealed that you are the Most Pure Virgin, Mary, Mother of the True God and Mother of all mankind.  I thank you for requesting a temple to be built where you stood, to bear witness to your love, your compassion, your aid and your protection for all who would love you, trust you, and invoke your help.

Three Hail Marys, one Glory Be

Second Apparition:  Our Lady of Guadalupe gives Blessed Juan Diego encouragement after his return from the Bishop's house.

Our Father ...

Meditation:  Our Lady of Guadalupe, my Queen and my Mother, I thank you for your second apparition to Blessed Juan Diego when, upon his return from the Bishop's house, he knelt in humiliation and defeat before you since he was unable to accomplish your mission.  I thank you for the courage and encouragement you gave to Blessed Juan Diego to make a second appeal to the Bishop.

Three Hail Mary's, one Glory Be

Third Apparition:  Our Lady of Guadalupe promises a sign to the Blessed Juan Diego for the Bishop.

Our Father ...

Mother, I thank you for your third apparition to the Blessed Juan Diego when, after this unsuccessful attempt to have a temple built, you said to him, "So be it, son.  Return tomorrow in order that you may secure for the Bishop a sign for which he has asked.  When this is in your possession, he will believe you; he will no longer doubt your word and suspect your good faith.  Be assured that I shall reward you for all that you have undergone."

Three Hail Mary's, one Glory Be

Fourth Apparition:  Our Lady of Guadalupe fulfills her promise by showing herself on the tilma of Blessed Juan Diego.

Our Father ...

Meditation:  Our Lady of Guadalupe, my Queen and my Mother, I thank you for your fourth apparition to the Blessed Juan Diego when you ordered him to pick the roses he would find on the summit of the hill and bring them to you.  I thank you for arranging them in his tilma when you said, "This cluster of roses is the sign that you shall take to the Bishop.  You are to tell him, in my name, that in this he will recognize my will and that he must fulfill it.  You will be my ambassador, wholly worthy of my confidence.  Only in the presence of the Bishop shall you unfold your mantle and disclose that which you carry."  I thank you for your image printed on the tilma which appeared when the roses were released.

Three Hail Marys, one Glory Be

Closing Prayer:  Remember, O most gracious Virgin of Guadalupe, that in thy celestial apparition on the Mount of Tepeyac, thou didst promise to show thy compassion and pity towards all who, loving and trusting thee, seek thy help and call upon thee in their necessities and afflictions; also to hearken to our supplications, to dry our tears and to give us consolation and relief.

Inspired with this confidence we come before thy august presence, certain that thou wilt deign to fulfill thy merciful promises.  We are hopeful that, standing beneath thy protection nothing will trouble or afflict us.  Thou has desired to remain with us through thy admirable image, thou who art our Mother, our health and our life.

O Mary, Mother of God, hear our petitions and in thy mercy answer us.  Amen.

Prayer To Our Lady Of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe, my mother, into your hands joined in prayer, take my prayers, petitions and hopes, and present them to Jesus for me.

Remembering the love and care your hands rendered to Him, He will not refuse what they hold now, even though they are from me.  Amen.

The Rosary Chaplet Of The Holy Ghost

Chaplet Of The Holy Ghost

The Chaplet of the Holy Ghost was composed in 1892 by a Franciscan Capuchin missionary of the English province in order to give the faithful an easy means of honoring the Holy Ghost.  It was approved by Pope Leo XIII in 1902.  It is intended to be in regard to the Holy Ghost what the Dominican Rosary is in regard to the Blessed Virgin.

This rosary consists of 5 groups of 7 beads each.  Before and after each group there are 2 large beads, that is, 12 large beads in all.  In addition there are 2 small beads at the beginning.  On these three beads one makes the sign of the Cross, recites an act of contrition and the hymn Come Holy Ghost.

In each group the Glory Be is said on the 7 small beads, an Our Father and a Hail Mary on the 2 large beads.  On the remaining 2 large beads are said the Apostles' Creed and an Our Father and Hail Mary for the intention of the Holy Father.

There is a mystery for each of the 5 groups; the number 5 commemorating the Five Wounds of Jesus which are the fountains of grace which the Holy Ghost imparts to all men.  The reflections suggested are as follows:

Wire-Wrapped Chaplet Of The Holy Ghost
 Available for purchase at UnbreakableRosaries.com

The First Mystery
By the Holy Ghost is Jesus conceived of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Meditation:  "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the Power of the Most High shall overshadow thee; and therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke, I, 35)

The Practice: Diligently implore the aid of the Divine Spirit, and Mary's intercession, to imitate the virtues of Jesus Christ, Who is the Model of virtues, so that you may be made comformable to the image of the Son of God.

The Second Mystery
The Spirit of the Lord rested upon Jesus.

The Meditation: "Jesus, being baptized, forthwith came out of the water:  and lo! the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him." (Matthew, III, 16)

The Practice: Hold in the highest esteem the priceless gift of sanctifying grace, infused into your soul by the Holy Ghost in Baptism.  Keep the promises to which you then pledged yourself.  Increase, by constant practice, Faith, Hope and Charity.  Ever live as becometh children of God and members of God's true Church, so as to obtain, hereafter, the inheritance of heaven.

The Third Mystery
By the Spirit is Jesus led into the desert.

The Meditation: "Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the desert for the space of forty days; and was tempted by the devil."  (Luke, IV, 1-2.)

The Practice: Be ever grateful for the sevenfold gift of the Holy Ghost bestowed upon you in Confirmation, for the spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and fortitude, of knowledge and piety, and of the fear of the Lord.  Faithfully yield to His Divine guidance, so that, in all the trials and temptations of life, you may act manfully, as becometh a perfect Christian and valiant soldier of Jesus Christ.

The Fourth Mystery

The Holy Ghost in the Church.

The Meditation: "Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a mighty wind coming, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting ... and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak ... the wonderful works of God."  (Acts, II, 2, 4, 11.)

The Practice: Thank God for having made you a child of His Church which is ever animated and directed by the Divine Spirit, sent into this world for the purpose on the day of Pentecost.  Hear and obey the Holy See, the infallible mouthpiece of the Holy Ghost, and the Church, the pillar and ground of truth.  Uphold her doctrines, seek her interests, defend her rights.

The Fifth Mystery
The Holy Ghost in the soul of the just man.

The Meditation: "Know you not that your members are the temple of the Holy Ghost, Who is in you?" (I Cor., VI, 19.)
"Extinguish not the Spirit." (I Thess., V, 19.)
"And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption." (Eph., IV, 30.)

The Practice: Be ever mindful of the Holy Ghost Who is within you, and carefully cultivate purity of soul and body.  Faithfully obey His Divine Inspirations so that you may bring forth the Fruits of the Spirit - Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Benignity, Goodness, Long-suffering, Mildness, Faith, Modesty, Continency, Chastity.

Conclude with the "I believe" as a profession of faith.

Say finally once Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be to the Father, for the intentions of the Sovereign Pontiff.

Pope Francis: The Papal Coat Of Arms

From The Vatican Radio -

Pope Francis has chosen the motto "Miserando atque eligendo", meaning lowly but chosen; literally in Latin 'by having mercy, by choosing him'.

The motto is one the Pope had already chosen as Bishop. It is taken from the homilies of the Venerable Bede on Saint Matthew's Gospel relating to his vocation:"Jesus saw the tax collector and by having mercy chose him as an Apostle saying to him : Follow me."

This homily, which focuses on divine mercy and is reproduced in the Liturgy of the Hours on the Feast of Saint Matthew, has taken on special significance in the Pope's life and spiritual journey.

In fact it was on the Feast of Saint Matthew in 1953 that a young seventeen year-old Jorge Bergoglio was touched by the mercy of God and felt the call to religious life in the footsteps of Saint Ignatius of Loyola.

Beyond the motto, the coat of arms has a blue field and is surmounted by the mitre and the papal keys. On the crest itself at the centre is the symbol of the Jesuits, a flaming sun with the three letters recalling the name and the salvific mission of Jesus. Underneath we have two more symbols: to the right the star representing Mary and to the left the nard flower representing Joseph.

How To Pray The Camaldolese Crown of Our Lord Rosary Chaplet

Crown of Our Lord Rosary Chaplet

The Camaldolese Crown was designed by Bl. Michele Pina (1450-1522), a Camaldolese monk, and is also sometimes called the Crown of Our Lord, Corona Del Signore (Italian), or the Rosary of Our Lord.  It was officially approved by Papal brief on 18 February 1516.

The chaplet consists of 33 beads - three decades of ten beads each, plus three additional beads to commemorate the 33 earthly years of Our Lord.   Five Hail Marys are recited in honor of Mary and the five wounds of Our Lord.  It concludes with the Apostles' Creed.

There are two versions of this chaplet - a long and a short - both described below.

Short Version

On the crucifix make the Sign of The Cross
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. World without end. Amen

First Decade:
Meditate on the infancy of Our Lord Jesus until He was twelve years of age, particularly His incarnation in the womb of the Virgin Mary, His birth in a stable, His circumcision, His presentation in the temple and the persecution He suffered from His enemies when He was still an infant.

Also meditate on the humility with which He obeyed and waited on His holy Mother and Saint Joseph, by whom He was found, at the age of twelve, holding discussions among the doctors in the temple.

Pray one Hail Mary, ten Our Fathers, and one Glory Be...

Second Decade:
Meditate on the life of Our Lord Jesus Christ from the time He was twelve years of age until His passion, considering how He who was Divine Wisdom, humbly and charitably lived unknown among men until He was thirty.  He prepared Himself for His preaching by a forty-day fast and by being baptized by St. John the Baptist.  Then He chose His Apostles, preached His evangelical law and worked miracles throughout Palestine, while He suffered persecution and countless hardships.

Pray one Hail Mary, ten Our Fathers, and one Glory Be...

Third Decade:
Meditate on the latter part of Our Redeemer's life:  His most bitter passion.  Having entered Jerusalem amidst the acclamations of the people, He abased Himself in washing the feet of His disciples and He instituted the Holy Eucharist.  Let us consider also how following His prayer in the garden during which He sweated blood, He let Himself to be captured and bound by his enemies, and being led from one tribunal to another, He was slapped and reviled, scourged at the pillar and crowned with sharp thorns.  At the end, after carrying the cross on His shoulders to the hill of Calvary, He was crucified between two thieves and gave up His most holy soul for the redemption of mankind.  After His death blood and water flowed from the sacred wound in His side.

Pray one Hail Mary, ten Our Fathers, and one Glory Be...

In the concluding prayers, we meditate how our Lord Jesus Christ, after His adorable body had been three days in the sepulcher, rose again from the dead, appeared to His Blessed Mother and to His disciples.  Also how He established Saint Peter as head of the Church, commanded all the Apostles to go about the world preaching the Faith and the remission of sins; and after forty days He ascended into heaven at the right hand of the Eternal Father, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

On the large bead beneath the center pray one Hail Mary.
On each of the next three smaller beads pray the Our Father.
On the large bead above the crucifix pray one Hail Mary.

On the crucifix recite the Apostles' Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.  Amen.

V. We adore You, oh Christ, and we bless You.

R. Because by Your holy Cross You have redeemed the world.

Let us pray

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, in whose honor we have recited this Rosary, put -Your passion, Your cross and Your death between our souls and Your judgment now and at the hour of our death and grant us grace and mercy; grant the faithful departed rest and pardon; grant Your Church peace and harmony and to us sinners forgiveness and eternal glory, who live and reign world without end. Amen.

Camaldolese Monks, painted by Paul Delaroche (1797-1856)

Long Version

On the crucifix make the Sign of The Cross
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen
V. O God, come to our aid.
R. O Lord, make haste to help us.

On the first large bead:
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. World without end. Amen

On each of the next three smaller beads make the Acts of Faith, Hope and Charity.

O my God, I firmly believe that You are One God in three Divine Persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that Your divine Son became Man and died for our sins, and that He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these, and all the truths that the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because You have revealed them, who can neither deceive or be deceived.

O my God, relying on Your Almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon for my sins, the help of Your grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

O my God, I love You above all things with my whole heart and soul, because You are all good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of You. I forgive all who have injured me and ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

Make an Act of Contrition:

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life.

First Decade:
The Hidden Life of Our Lord – The Archangel Gabriel makes known to the Blessed Virgin Mary the Incarnation of the Divine Word in her pure womb.

On the first large bead beneath the rosary center pray the Hail Mary.

Hail Mary, full of grace.  The Lord is with thee.  Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

- Herod finds Him not and murders the Innocents.  Our Father...
- He is brought back by Joseph and His mother into Nazareth his home.  Our Father...
- He disputes in the Temple with the doctors, being twelve years of age.  Our Father...

Complete the decade with a Glory Be.

The Second Decade:
The Public Life of Our Lord- Jesus is most obedient to the Blessed Virgin His Mother, and to Saint Joseph

On the large bead pray a Hail Mary.

On each of the next ten beads:
- Jesus is baptized by Saint John in the river Jordan at the age of thirty years.  Our Father...
- Jesus fasts for forty days and nights in the wilderness and resists Satan.  Our Father...
- Jesus reveals true obedience to the Father’s Will and preaches eternal life.  Our Father...
- Jesus calls His disciples, who forthwith leave all and follow Him.  Our Father...
- Jesus performs His first miracle by changing water into wine.  Our Father...
- Jesus heals the sick, makes the lame to walk, gives hearing to the deaf, sight to the blind and   raises the dead to life.  Our Father...
- Jesus converts sinful men and women and pardons their sins.  Our Father...
- When His own people persecute Him even unto death, He does not chastise them but gently chides.  Our Father...
- He is transfigured on Mount Tabor in the presence of Peter, James and John.  Our Father...
- He enters Jerusalem riding on a colt the foal of an ass and drives the money-changers from the temple.  Our Father...

Complete the decade with a Glory Be.

The Third Decade:
The Sorrowful Death of Our Lord – Jesus takes leave of His Most Holy Mother before going to die for our salvation.

On the large bead pray a Hail Mary.

On each of the next ten beads:
- The Lord celebrates the last Paschal Supper and washes the feet of the Apostles.  Our Father...
- The Lord institutes the most holy Sacrament of the Eucharist.  Our Father...
- The Lord prays fervently in the Garden; He sweats blood and is comforted by an angel.  Our Father...
- Christ is betrayed by Judas with a kiss.  He is taken, bound and captive, by the officers of justice.  Our Father...
- Jesus is falsely accused, struck and spat upon, and shamefully used before four tribunals. Our Father...
- The Lord looks with tenderness on Peter after he had thrice denied Him, and converts him; whilst Judas despairs, hangs himself and is lost.  Our Father...
- The Lord is scourged at the pillar and receives innumerable blows.  Our Father...
- Jesus is crowned with thorns, shown to the people who cry "Crucify, Crucify Him!"  Our Father...
- He is condemned to death and carries the heavy cross with grievous pain upon his shoulders to the Mount of Calvary.  Our Father...
- Jesus is crucified between two thieves; dies after three hours agony upon the cross. He is wounded in the side with a lance and is buried.  Our Father...
Complete the decade with a Glory Be.

The final portion of the chaplet is recited on the pendant.

On the large bead beneath the rosary center pray:
Jesus rises on the third day, and visits first of all His Most Holy Mother, Mary.  Hail Mary...
On each of the smaller three beads contemplate the three final mysteries:
- Jesus appears to the three Marys and bids them tell the Apostles they have seen Him risen from the dead.  Our Father...
- Jesus appears to His disciples, shows them His Most Holy Wounds and makes Thomas touch them.  Our Father...
- The fortieth day after His resurrection, Jesus blessed Most Holy Mary and His disciples and ascends into the heavens.  Our Father...

On the large bead above the crucifix pray:
Let us pray to the Most Holy Virgin to obtain for us also the blessing of Her Divine Son Our Lord Jesus Christ, now, and at the hour of our death.  Hail Mary...

Conclude the chaplet on the crucifix with the Apostles' Creed and the following prayer ascribed to St. Augustine:

O Lord, Who to redeem the world and to free us from the pains of hell, didst vouchsafe to be born amongst men, subject to pain and death, to be circumcised, rejected and persecuted by the Jews;

betrayed by Thy disciple Judas with a sacrilegious kiss; and as a lamb, gentle and innocent, to be bound with cords, and dragged in scorn  before the tribunals of  Annas, Ciaphas, Pilate and Herod;

Who didst suffer thyself to be accused by false witnesses, torn by scourges, crowned with thorns, smitten with blows, insulted with spittings, to have Thy Divine Countenance covered out of contempt; to be many ways set at naught and outraged, to be filled with reproaches and ignominies,

and, last of all, to be stripped of Thy clothes, nailed to and raised high upon a cross between two notorious thieves;  to be drenched with gall and vinegar, and then pierced with a lance,

and so to fulfill the mighty work of our redemption: Savior most tender, by these, Thy many cruel sufferings borne by Thee out of Thy love for me, which I, unworthy as I am, yet dare to contemplate,

by thy Holy Cross and by Thy  Bitter Death, free me from the pains of hell and vouchsafe to bring me to Paradise,  whither thou didst lead the penitent thief who was crucified with Thee, my Jesus, Who with the Father and with the Holy Spirit, livest and reignest God for ever and ever. Amen
